The third installment of Geography in a Glass can be found in Mash Tun Journal #3! Free copies were given out at the Mash Tun Fest on Saturday, June 22. I have a stack of them here at home, so shoot me an email if you’d like a copy.
June 17, 2013 marked my first year as a (mostly) weekly contributor to Sketch Please: a website where “artists draw one sketch a week on a specific theme, or else they mega-fail.” Each week someone picks a theme, and then we all try to draw something to match that theme.
Some of my favorite weeks have been Simpsons characters as they would appear in real life, Self Portrait as the Opposite Sex, and Iconic Album Covers Re-imagined.
Thanks to the support of beer bars, breweries, and specialty stores in our neighborhood, 60625news and Sarah Morton Comics will be hosting a game of Beer Bingo all summer long.
From May 15 (which just so happens to be the day before the start of Chicago Craft Beer Week) until September 21, you can visit one of the participating locations to pick up your own beer bingo card. You’ll have until the end of the summer to score a bingo: Be one of the first 30 people to complete the locally-focused beer-related activities/purchases described on five squares in a row (diagonal, vertical, horizontal) and win a prize — a custom pint glass with original artwork by Sarah Morton.
Due to the generous responses from the businesses participating, we will have a handful of other prizes should someone fill out the entire card — a “black out,” so to speak. These are very limited, so first come, first served.
Pick up your Bingo card at one of these locations:
The Bad Apple, 4300 N Lincoln Ave
The Grafton, 4530 N Lincoln Ave
DANK Haus, 4740 N Western Ave
Fountainhead, 1970 W Montrose Ave
Brew Camp, 4639 N Damen Ave
Bottles and Cans, 4109 N Lincoln Ave
Many thanks to our participating locations who have embraced the community spirit of this fun project.
The fine print: Limit one per person. Prizes available while supplies last. Bingo must be completed and submitted by Sept. 21, 2013. Submit Bingo cards by emailing a photo of your completed card to firstname.lastname@example.org and we’ll arrange a way to get your prize to you!
**PLEASE NOTE** One of the squares indicates that Bottles and Cans carries six packs by Begyle, when in fact, Begyle currently only distributes 22-oz bombers. Please purchase their beer in this form instead to get credit for that particular square, and enjoy!
